For parents & teachers

A small plan. Space to figure things out.

Start with one idea the learner is ready to explore. Use a tool, paper or a browser game as part of the session, not as a requirement to stay on screen.

Plan about five minutes, without setting a timer

  1. Pick one small aim. Try “read an o'clock time” rather than “learn clocks”, or “explain 6 × 4” rather than “finish the tables”. Ask the learner what they already know.
  2. Show one example. Move a clock hand, arrange counters or say a familiar word. Invite an explanation before asking for independent answers.
  3. Try a few together. Choose two or three questions. Give time to count, draw, speak or change an answer; an untimed tool is a good first choice.
  4. Check one idea. Ask “How could we show that?” Note a useful next step for yourself, without recording children's personal information in a tool.
  5. Pause offscreen. Stretch, draw, read a real clock or make equal groups with objects. Stop earlier if the learner is tired or frustrated.

This is practical activity guidance, not a medical recommendation or a promise of learning outcomes. Adapt it to the learner and your classroom approach. No daily streak, speed score or uninterrupted session is required.

Match the tool to the next step

Spelling

Spelling Bee reads a word using browser speech. Check that voice and volume suit the session. The spelling path includes a paper routine if speech is unavailable.

Paper or play

The Worksheet Generator makes clock and maths sheets locally. For a game, deliberately launch Clock Master or Math Tank; game challenges can involve timers, unlike the short plans above.

Space Academy: use evidence, not labels

Browse 56 original maths and reasoning chapters across PP1, PP2 and Classes 1-5. Read a sample together, then deliberately open Space Academy. Chapter missions have five or eight untimed questions; Classes 1-5 also have longer independently authored practice papers, not official exam timing or scoring.

Explore, Reason and Stretch

In question bank v2, Explore builds foundations, Reason connects clues in paper-style problems, and Stretch links conditions in higher-order challenges. Use the chapter page's level plan and worked examples to choose a starting point. Pictures, marked grids, clocks, scales and graphical choices can carry essential information; ask what the learner notices before suggesting a calculation.

A useful next step, not an IQ score

Reports use up to 20 recent different independent answers per skill at the selected challenge level and content version. Hinted answers are separate. At least five unhinted questions are needed before a practice suggestion appears; retries replace a question's record rather than increase the evidence count.

Ask the learner to explain their method. These small practice samples are not diagnoses, ranks or validated ability scores. Difficulty and coverage still need independent educator review; this is not complete Olympiad preparation or provider-endorsed material.

Local explorers and private backups

Three anonymous explorer slots keep siblings separate, with a different journey for each grade. Choose the correct slot first. No names, school details, email addresses or birth dates are requested. There are no accounts or trackers in the game. Question links share settings and bank=1 or bank=2, not progress; keep seeds anonymous too.

Help & saves downloads a JSON backup for all three explorers. Keep it privately. Restore requires confirmation and replaces only Academy saves; resetting an explorer removes all of that slot's grades, not other explorers or other games. Clearing browser data or closing a private session can lose saves.

Sources and review scope

The rebuild compared official SOF samples with CREST previous-year papers, plus KG and UIMO samples. Samples are not administered examinations, and provider topic boundaries differ. SOF remains the primary Class 1-5 topic anchor; PP1/PP2 are readiness activities, not official SOF levels. Questions and diagrams are original, not copied paper questions. Read the source links, review scope and coverage limits.

Rewards and earlier missions

Existing rewards and mission history are retained. An unfinished version 1 mission or an old review still uses the frozen original bank; new version 2 skill evidence is separate, so an older accuracy figure is not evidence of readiness for the rebuilt questions.

Launch charges and craft systems

Every finished question mission earns one launch charge. Different chapters unlock matching craft systems through different completed questions; hints and mistakes still count as participation, not mastery. Repeating one chapter cannot unlock the whole craft. Begin with three core systems, then fit more for later expeditions.

Grades, activities and the Universe Passport

Each grade has a different craft, region and playable activity: collecting, pattern assembly, rover navigation, cargo planning, fuel-limited routes, station layout or probe assignments. Start directly at any grade. One Universe Passport collects the 30 objects across that explorer's grades; existing discoveries, unfinished questions and earned parts are retained. New grade activities can revisit a known object without another charge. There are no purchases, streak requirements, ad rewards or losses for wrong answers. Submitted answers and board moves are saved locally.

Bookmark and share with a class

Prefer a direct bookmark

Bookmark the exact tool or learning path you intend to use, rather than asking learners to browse from the homepage. Test the link on your school's device and network. Offer a paper version if sound, JavaScript or internet access is unavailable.

A Worksheet Generator share link contains activity settings and a sheet seed only. It recreates the questions, not a learner's answers or progress. Do not put children's names in the seed or class links.

Non-commercial educational embedding

Our Terms of Service, section 2.1 permit embedding tools on personal or classroom pages for non-commercial educational use with attribution. Use a direct tool URL, such as Hour Hand, as the frame source.

Give the frame a descriptive title, enough room for its controls, and a visible “Otterly Games — Hour Hand” attribution link back to the source. Include an ordinary link so learners can open it separately. Test keyboard access and mobile layout; a bookmark is often simpler than a small embedded frame.

Before starting a browser game

Local progress is not a backup

Clock Master and Math Tank save game progress in the current browser on the current device. It does not sync to another browser, a school computer, the Android app or a cloud account. Clearing site data removes saves; private browsing may discard them when closed.

Shared-device progress may belong to the previous player. The worksheet generator does not save or collect completed answers, and its shared seed is not a game-save code.

Check sound and adult controls

Open a game together, adjust its sound setting and choose a comfortable volume or mute before play. Check the in-game help and settings rather than assuming every mode is silent or untimed.

Clock Master includes parent settings behind a maths-question gate. An adult should manage these controls; the gate is not identity verification or a substitute for supervision. Full screen is optional.

Deciding how much game time suits your family? See what the research says about screen time, or read one mom's honest guide to screen time that helps.

Android is optional

No installation is needed for browser play. Families who want an Android option can review Clock Master and Math Tank. Space Academy is browser-only for now; its Android app is coming soon. The apps offer offline play after installation; browser progress does not transfer. Review current store details and app settings before installing.

Keep adult decisions separate

The privacy policy and terms describe the site and apps. A worksheet runs locally, but opening any website still involves a hosting request; “no account” does not mean the internet connection has no technical data.

For optional support or sponsorship information, use the separate adult support page. There is no payment widget, email sign-up or child profile form on these learning pages.
